The biggest difference between water-based and solvent-based PU is not performance — it's environmental impact and worker safety. Water-based PU uses water as the dispersion medium, replacing large amounts of organic solvent, so workers on the floor aren't breathing solvent vapour for hours. That's the first reason most customers switch — not cost, but people.
Solvent-based PU isn't a technology being phased out
Solvent-based PU isn't a technology on its way out either. In some specific applications it still has advantages water-based PU can't match yet. Where it's the right choice, it stays the right choice — we won't push a switch just to sell more water-based resin.
